Children are especially vulnerable; 1 in 4 children face food insecurity in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn has the highest utilization of food assistance programs of all the boroughs.
The average meal in New York costs about $6.31, almost twice the national average ($3.25.)
How we show up
Fight food insecurity in our neighborhood
Provide weekly food distribution to about 150 neighbors with both fresh food and pantry items
Stock the Little Red Library box located outside the Vinegar Hill Community Garden
Allocate items from a variety of partners including The Campaign Against Hunger (TCAH), Community Food Connection (CFC), The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP)
Receive food via donation boxes from local organizations and community partners
Benefit from individual donations and purchased goods from Amazon Wish list.
